Phil Simmons, the head coach of Bangladesh, has left the team's tour of Sri Lanka to seek medical advice in London. Initial reports suggested that Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam had summoned Simmons for a performance review. However, it has been confirmed that Simmons had a pre-arranged appointment with doctors in the UK.
Simmons is expected to rejoin the squad in Sri Lanka on July 7, in time for the third One Day International (ODI) of the series. Following the ODI series, Bangladesh is scheduled to play three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
The Bangladesh team showed promise in the first Test match, securing a draw. However, they have struggled to maintain consistency, losing the second Test and consequently the series. The team also experienced a significant batting collapse in the first ODI, resulting in a loss.
