The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations embracing the format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. He stated that the GCA is still in the process of identifying an appropriate window for the tournament and finalizing the number of participating teams, along with other key details.
These domestic T20 leagues have become crucial platforms for IPL franchises to scout emerging talent. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra provide opportunities for local cricketers to gain recognition and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are held in June and July, after the IPL season concludes in May.
